Development of tools and methods to improve water quality control and hydraulic flow conditions in pressurized pipelines, including the development of water quality monitoring techniques.
Development of methods to optimize network operation, with particular focus on analyzing failures in water supply and sewage networks, and on interactions between damaged network pipes and surrounding soil.
Assessment of moisture in porous media such as soil, ground, and construction materials using invasive and non-invasive reflectometry techniques under laboratory and field conditions with real-time measurements.
Numerical modeling using 2D and 3D finite element methods of unsaturated and saturated water flow and contaminant transport in porous media.
Analysis, classification, and evaluation of soil, ground, gas mixtures, sediments, water, and wastewater parameters using electronic sensing technologies such as electronic noses and electronic eyes.
